Overnight Vigil

With the previous thread bound for over 900 comments, here's another for you to keep each other company overnight. It's been a strange, sad night in many ways, for many people. Let's continue to focus on thinking good thoughts for Joe Paterno and his family. Remember that he's more than a football coach -- he's a husband, father, and grandfather to people who are bravely going through this with him.

Good call.

I’m a stinking mess and appreciae the forum.

:(

we’re all a bit of a mess tonight.

+1

I’m just thankful I have a place to talk about everything. God knows I’d be a mess if I didn’t have this site.

I was a mess about a few hours ago

But with my good friend here at BSD and my good friend Stolichnaya, I am getting through this night.

Think about the folks who went to bed...

… sobbing. And won’t know until morning he is not dead. I almost went to be myself.

Very difficult night

Thanks Chris, you’ve done a good job with an impossible situation.

Wow

are we the only two that moved over?

I closed comments on the other thread, so the others should be here soon.
I am not ready for this

unreal

Is it wrong that I'm starting to feel almost happy?
I'm feeling kinda the same way

relief that the news wasn’t real. Though I know it most likely will be soon.

Yes, and quite a bit of beer, too.

I’m surprised I can be anything other than a puddle of tears right now.

It's always a mixed bag.

Sadness when we lose someone so very important to us all, while celebrating a remarkable life at the same time.

It's not just that,

the rest of my life is pretty much shit right now, too! YAY!

Paige.
We love you and you are awesome.

Never forget that.

You need to do whatever voodoo shit you diva's do

And appoint Mel a diva.

DONE!
In my mind a bra got burned or something.
wasn't she already a member of the diva sorority?
You rock, Paige.
I am with you

Know exactly what you mean, Life is professional life is shit, personally life is shit, atleast I have Nittany Nation to keep me going each day I wake up.

Ah, the glories of academia!
I was told that it is a noble way to starve.

I only have myself to blame.

I go up for tenure this year.

And I really need another grant or a fellowship. Just found out last week I didn’t make the finals for the fellowship I applied to.

We do things in a way that is an insult to our values.

Service, Research, Teaching. But the focus is on research, the others really don’t matter — at least they don’t at a Carnegie I school. Which mostly results in a lot of bad research. Got to get published. I’ll do anything to get published. Swell.

I've got five articles in the hopper.

Three are finished, but having trouble publishing. I did an evaluation project with a hand tied behind my back. Regretting that now.

And I am at a community college

In PA, where that Fucker Corbett cut out budget. Just for off suplemental unemployment, still living with mom and dad. Depression aint got shit on me!!

History, right?

Try looking at other states for jobs if you can.

History and Geography

I am actually looking at a career change. Just applied to PSU for a MA in higher ed, to be a counselor/advisor or administrator.

Kids are getting told such shit these days, I am straightforward to the point of blunt about what to do with their future, and my students love it when I don’t sugar coat anything.

Teacher job market in North Carolina seems

to be crap, but I can poke around down here if you need a change of venue.

I need a change of life

Like not even joking.

I acually loved living in NC, but my dream job is working in Happy Valley. Applied to about 60 jobs there, and was called for 1. But still pluggin through it all.

No worries, Aries.

My e-mail is in my profile. I know you were at UNCG, so have some experience down here.

Really NC is a great state

Loved my time there. So different from PA

My e-mail is in my profile also.

Let me know what,

if anything, I can do for you. I’m in health administration, though, so may not be of much help.

I can use some

Healthcare. Had a bad heath scare a few years ago, long story short, almost had a stroke. Blood pressure was littearlly double the normal rate. Doctors were still clueless as to why it happened, killed off half my kidneys. Seems it might have all been because have sleep apniea, didn’t sleep for like 6 months.

Well, I'm not a medical doctor.

But I can tell you all about insurance and stuff. But seriously, I’d be happy to try to get you in touch with specialists if I know any. Just email me.

I got all that figured out...

Pretty much. I was about 4 years ago, so been on top of it. Great story, but way to long to relive here.

I'm glad you're well now!
Me to!!!
I'll add my gratitude!
All too kind

And you haven’t even meet me in person. Might change your mind if that happens…i kied I keid.

Naw,

you’re a Penn Stater. That’s all we need to know!

"way too long to relive here"

um….this is the internet/BSD here, you know that, right?

I'll shoot you a note manana.

I’m about to switch venues myself. My book is calling . . .

I am hoping start my MA for same thing

I have been doing Academic Advising for 3yrs at a for profit. I dream of working for a non-profit. Not that the pay will be any better.

Make sure your non-profit of choice has a good

business officer. I’ve worked for a couple that were almost bankrupt because my predecessor couldn’t handle the books.

i meant nonprofit school.

Worked at a pre -> 8th grade

school, which was okay while it lasted. Now at Duke – I guess that counts, right?

yep

there are some plus sides to forprofit education but overall it is a soul sucking demon (new dept i work for excluded)

I prefer the for-profit world.

Duke people think that money is evil, but are quick to demand more in their departments — and paychecks.

See “leeching” comments elsewhere in this thread.

Employees it may be better for

and forprofits are great at quick changes. however profit is bottom dollar. the things i have witnessed, told to do, all in the name of getting/keeping a student is morally repugnant.

Sorry to hear that.

Wish I had some words of wisdom and comfort.

Thanks, that's good enough.

No more sadsack shit, I promise.

Did someone ask for "Comfort"?

I’m still here! (Prolly for just a few more minutes, tho.)

I feel prepared.

Tonight I released my emotions. If bad news follows, I feel as though I’ll be prepared—but nevertheless unwilling to accept it.

I haven't even come close

to shedding all my tears.

same here

though I don’t think there is a limit when it comes to the death of beloved people.

I was at a bar trying to do trivia when I started breaking down tonight

when I left is when word got out he was still with us. So I don’t think I’ve had my crying breakdown yet…but it’s coming, mark my words.

its relief. I felt it since i learned he wasn't gone yet.
When I do circle with my kids on Monday

I will be liberally using Joepa quotes.

That is an amazing picture of the vigil.

Most certainly wallpaper material.

Chris,

While I appreciate the new thread, do not close the old. We can move along like good lemmings.

I'll open them back up.

Even a few minutes of closed comments should be encouragement enough, so I’ll open it back up for you to finish business over there.

you do everything wrong

Flush when you're done, MainLion,

and put the seat down. I’m tired of getting blamed for leaving it up, when it’s YOU doing it.

/LOLZ

Huh?
Chris said you had to finish your "business"

on the other thread. I just assumed . . . .

Ah, a poop joke.

You know, I expected more from you.

Sorry, buddy.

Not the first person I’ve disappointed — won’t be the last.

Ah, my Saturday morning speech while a student at Penn State.

Memories.

Thanks Chris

Like I said before, we appreciate your work.

Clearly you can see why it was important for me to get in one last post.
As a Husker fan

my heart is aching for the Penn State family. God Bless all of you, and God be with Joe’s family.

The Big Ten family engulfs you with it’s support and care.

Thank you, redvalley!
Thanks again, RedValley!

Please stop by often. I for one like having Nebraska in the B1G.

And I love the B1G.

But not the shared sadness we’re going through now. Joe is such an icon…irreplaceable.

Easy aside...
18 to 22…how perfect were you at that age?

As perfect as I’m ever going to get.

I was in the Army when I was 18-22, and

had reason to believe I was a bad-ass. Those were some good years!

Thanks jesse

and PSU_Lions, but my sig has more to do with the criticism thrown at these imperfect young men by fans who have forgotten how imperfect they, themselves, were at that age.

Great coaches like Joe understand that premise, and support their players according to that innate flaw, rather than tearing them down.

No worries, RV.

Your sig just brought some good memories.

And I go by “84” or “Mark” — easier to type.

Thanks.

Damn, I’m falling in love with Penn State….

MUST…LEAVE…NOW…

Long live volleyball! And rest well, my friends.

You are welcome back

anytime, RV!

Good night and God bless!

We can be your second love!
Oh,

but will it be returned?

Love never works on a one-way street. : D

"I found love on a two-way street,

and lost it on a lonely highway."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol0ZyaGG5H4

You people

are too much fun.

And I feel guilty saying that on a night like this.

And, I’m going to repeat my admiration of Sue P. that I stated on the other thread. Am I misreading her, or is she one the neatest, most loving, supportive wives ever?

In these short, few months, I have been overwhelmed by her strength…and unconditional love for Joe.

You are not misreading her

She is every bit as great a woman as Joe was a great man.

She's the ultimate woman.

I wish I could be like her.

Ah!

A fellow woman on a sports site…I’m so excited, I’m going to spit now.

I’ve only identified two other women on Corn Nation. Are you as lonely here, or are there many more of our species on BSD?

the BSDivas run this bitch
So, So JEALOUS!
im not a diva. i just know the ropes.
No,

I was saying I’M jealous.

I feel the female POV adds to the richness of a site.

My wife is on here somewhere,

but is new. Has not yet attained Diva status, I’m thinking.

Of course she has.

As soon as we know someone is female, I wave my wand, and they automatically become a BSDiva.

Easy there!

“Waving wands” is part of the reason we are in a shit storm!

I knew someone would make a comment like that!
My humble Thanks!

love to all BSD

true story

i still remember the day she waved her wand over me. sniff sniff. one of my happiest days ever

"she waved her wand over me"

Giggity.

I actually can't take credit,

as the original BSDiva. A lot of wonderful ladies were here before I was. I’m just quick to include all ladies as divas!

She underestimates the BSDiva effect.

They really do run this place.

SuePa

Is the best woman that lives in State College. She seems liek the nicest lady and one of the most caring on top of it.

With all respect to my wife

of 28 years, any woman who puts up with a man for as long as the Paterno’s have been married is truly a saint.

My parents hit 60 years

and my Dad died about two months later.

No cause-and-effect implied!!!

Mine made it to 46

when Mom passed. When I mention to my wife that we have nearly twenty years to go to match them, she collapses into a sobbing puddle of tears. I can’t figure out why…

Wife and I have been married for 32 --

they have been 24 of the happiest years of my life.

/LOLZ

I see what you did there 84

Nice!!

Aries .. nice?

HE says 24 …. What does MRS. say? lol

I don't know

I assume the Miss’s says she ahs had the 32 best years of her life with 84.

But can only assume really.

Good answer, Aries,

since that was Mrs. 84 asking that question and that is EXACTLY what I tell her.

84 masquerading as ComfortHePuHuTh

I'm telling :o)
No need to assume ...

I’ll go on record (long story, shortened): It has truly been almost 34! Blessed Years since we met and He totally ‘swooned’ me! Mark, ILYMTYLTT!

My wife doesn't

like the joke where you say “We have been married for seven blissful years” " But I though you’ve been married for longer than that?" " We’ve been married for 28, but only seven have been blissful"

Just say,

“Honey, you’re right!”

That is

an autoreply.

Along with

“I’m sorry”

But she can be harder than woodpecker lips.

Did you see where she said about he-who-shall-not-be-named, "If he had touched one of my kids I would have . . . "

And she would tutor some of the football players to the point where they were glad to get back to the field!

I just want to hug her

She seems like the nicest person. Would love to meet her and bake with her and do thing I do with my grandma. Love me some SuePa.!!

I remember seeing her around

at various PSU fundraising and spirit events. When I was there (06-10) Our opinion of her was at least as high as it was of Joe, if not higher. She is, by all accounts, a great woman.

plenty of room on the wagon.

lots of cowards leaped off in the last few months.

You are welcome anytime RV.

Please visit again! Despite what the haters say, we love other people’s input.

I've known him since he was 20 ...

and we have a saying here: He is right even when he is wrong! Still having GOOD years!!! xoxo

What's going on in your part of the house?
No TV,

trying to span the posts here, thinking of a book to read …. xo

Yeah, I keep reaching for "The Centurions"

but tonight was such a roller-coaster.

Shall I join you soon?

Let's ... join

Nite ya’ll

OK, I'll be there in a few.

The Divas are commenting — I think they are initiating RedValley into the coven harem group.

Oh get a room!
I think I am being "paged"

by the missus.

’Night, all!!!!

Thanks

You Husker fans have been amazing in your support.

Thanks redvalley

As much as I hated Nebraska for ‘94, I’ll always remember you guys for your class this year with the team prayer before the game. Nebraska now will always be my favorite other team from the B1G.

College football

is still the best thing in sports, and PSU-NU proved it that day. Love you guys.

Really

Thank you. Can’t say more than that.

Thank You.

Thanks, Chris,

Good night to you/yours.

I wonder..

What is the rcord for most comments?

I'm thinking we're not close
I'm thinking it was set in november
I'm not really sure.

The issue is that the threads come to a screeching halt somewhere in the 800-900 comment range. We’ve been over 1,000 on occasion.

Thanks

it was a question that just popped in my head

Unless you using the WOPR

After 800 it’s tough, especially if there are gifs and shit.

I just had a WOPR joke. Needed to use it. Sorry.

How about a nice game of chess?
NO!

Let’s play Global Thermonuclear War.

I'll be the Russians.
And no shit...

Do you know how long I was sitting on a WOPR joke? Fucking months.

"Honey, come to bed already"

“No damnit! I’ve been waiting all day for an opportunity to use a joke on the internet! Now is not the time to pack it in!”

thats better than

someone on the internet is wrong…

Move us to defcon 1
Does EDSBS have more bandwidth or something?

They regularly go over 1000 before jumping to another thread.

/Note, not criticizing, just asking.

Good question, no idea.
Are the individual sites responsible for their own hosting?

Or is it all through the SBN mothership?

sorry chris

but I seemed to start something to keep you up

Oh, mothership.

Which I think actually is the WOPR.

Then if things get bad enough I would file a ticket with em or however you handle technical issues.

I’m sure they probably have EDSBS on it’s own dedicated machine given how much traffic it gets. Threads crashing after X comments is a processor/RAM issue on the server rather than bandwidth.

I'm technically inept.

I just know that EDSBS doesn’t eject until over 1000 comments.

I think EDSBS has less active content in the margins

Their page always loads much faster for me than BSD

Is there a way to let the Paternos know

we tried to melt down the internet tonight?

They need frequent reminders of our love and prayers for them.

Jay knows.
Very good.

I remember how many people said good things at my Dad’s funeral, and I resolved I would do my best to say good things to people while they are still alive. Not perfect at that, but I try.

Oh man, this so much.

My grandmother passed away last summer. And at the wake I spent hours listening to people tell me how much she had touched their lives and helped them. I expected the whole ordeal to be terrible, but thanks to their words it was almost a positive experience. It meant so much to me to hear how much she had done for other people. Since then I’ve made it my goal in life to make sure that I let everyone in my life know that they helped to mold me.

Orson Scott Card.

Sci-fi writer who lives in Greensboro. Wrote the “Ender” books, and “Speaker for the Dead”. Have seriously considered having someone who doesn’t know me research my life, and give an objective portrayal of it at my funeral.

He does a great job in the Rhino Times too.
Yep.

I really need to go back and reread his stuff. I enjoy that genre.

Yup

He said that he saw all the comments (not necessarily here) and passed them onto Joe for inspiration. Something tells me they are aware of just how much this means to all of us.

ha my friends head is in this picture
I am 23 years old, been a State fan since I can remember.

And Joe has been there since the beginning of my fanhood. I love Penn State football and have JoePa largely to thank for giving me such an incredible, tradition rich program to be proud of for the rest of my life. To all my fellow State fans grieving tonight, stay strong. We can all be thankful knowing that Joe’s legacy will live forever.

I'm 53, and

can say pretty much the same thing, View. That’s an amazing legacy Joe has put together.

I share that

55 here, but Penn State spans generations, in no insignificant part due to the Paterno legacy. Not the wins, the lessons. I keep hearing Penn State Victory playing in my mind tonight, over and over. It’s what that victory is about that means the most.

Damn, you're old!

j/k!

Seriously. I'm right in between you guys at 54.

I don’t remember PSU before Joe. This is all a new reality. I don’t like it.

Do you, or 78 or 84 (now, like you 84, I'm starting to sound like a Get Smart episode)

remember TV Quarterbacks? We got (then) WPSX in the early 70s in Venango County — the transmitter was on a mountain in Clearfield. Educational, commercial TV with an hour of Joe, I think Fran, and a small audience.

Yeah, the only prob that I recall

was that it came on Sunday mornings, and unless I missed church (not a good idea) I would miss that program.

No Tivo/VCRs/any of that stuff back then, kids. Stop snickering!!!

We got it on Wednesday night (live or replay I can't recall)

in ‘72, ’73, and I think ’74 — Tom Shuman was QB in ’74 I think and I remember this season of the show. He looked like he had a mouthpiece in when he didn’t have a mouthpiece in.

It was the greatest coach show ever. PBS style, no ads, no hype, no smoke approaching your ass.

We only had a B&W TV

but even so the clothes came through as being LOUD!

Oh, the funkadelic 70’s . . .

Yes, tho didn't get it consistently

and I think it was on sunday’s around noon we’d hear it

Wow, yes, now that you mention it.

Although I lived in Carbon County at the time — maybe got the feed out of Allentown. I had forgotten all about that show.

It was a great show.

I wonder if the tapes are out there somewhere?

They are, but

only in reel-to-reel format.

I don't either

Remember hearing a delayed re-cap of a PSU-WVU game while riding with the ‘old man’ in our ‘65 Plymouth station wagon on the AM radio in 1967 and the ’old man’ saying something along the lines of ‘that guy’s making a name for himself up there’.

In hindsight I’d say…no shit, dad.

The Orange Bowl at the end of the '68 season cemented the deal for me.

The weak and effete Lambert Trophy easterners wouldn’t have a chance against Pepper Rodger’s Kansas Jayhawks.

Yeah.

Yeah!!
Awesome memory!

I was still recovering from a car accident that occurred in late Sep, so my school attendance was sporadic. Football really helped me get through.

And we're blessed you got through

Another Penn Stater survived to carry the torch

I'm rushing mindlessly toward 55 this April.

I need some break-one-nine-double-nickle-1975 joke here. Unfortunately, I can’t think of one.

Where are you Red Sovine?

Do you mean

Red “tear your heart out through your ears” Sovine?

Break One Nine

Is anyone there?

You could say

Suddenly,

I don’t feel THAT old anymore.

I think

I’ve been wounded . . .

/Checkingforbleeding

Sorry :o(
It's okay.

I’ve been meaning to visit the local apothecary for a little remedial leeching. Don’t trust them new-fangled “doctors” or whatever . . . .

HA

Leeched, and apothocary. That is good stuff.

therapeutic humor

I know there’s a witty comment about an instant replay challenge in here somewhere but I’m too tired to come up with it. Keep fighting Joe….

God Bless You Coach Paterno

He has been my hero, my inspiration for over 45 years. This is a very sad day. My daughter turns 21 today. She calls him Grandpa Joe.

My wife and I had the great fortune to spend 30 minutes alone with Coach Paterno in his office in 2008. It is one of the best days of my life. We NEVER talked football; we talked about family and he proclaimed me “Father of the Year”, as having 6 daughters.

I love the man and all he has stood for.

It is so sad and I could never prepare properly for this time, although I knew it would come.

He will fight to the end as he is one tough man.

You know what?

He’s not dead. No offense, but how about no more eulogies tonite?

take it easy, no?
Just my opinion.
Agreed.

Save them.

I'd just like to point out

that Kindergarden Cop is on tbs right now.

ITS NOT A TOOMAH!

That might be a little inappropriate.

maybe

still funny though.

I'M DETECTIVE JON KIMBLE!

I’M A COP YOU IDIOT!

what's funniest is you guys are commenting these quotes

and they immediately pop into my head in arnold’s voice. which is inherently funny in and of itself.

Its actually the voice I hear anytime I read something in all caps
I hear my Mom.
WE'RE GOING TO PLAY A LITTLE GAME

ITS CALLED WHO IS YOUR DADDY AND WHAT DOES HE DO

It looks like a cold sore, but . . . .
Penelope Ann Miller. Good reason to watch.
I always thought

she was really hot … in a southern/midwestern srota way …

Boys have a penis, girls have a vagina.
Slow down.

I need a pen and paper.

Taking notes or making a drawing?
hahahahaah.

im flicking back and forth between this and other shit.

Not always in New Orleans.
I want to go to bed

but this movie is too fantastic.

Welp,

it’s official. Found a taker for my Pats tickets. This gut punch took it out of me too hard. Can’t stand out there, pretend to care too much about the game while I tailgate etc.

Katt Williams on Comedy Central

The only problem with that is, they censored it, so there are many, MANY bleeps.

Sometimes the beep

is funnier than the word.

yeah i know what you mean.
Mrs. ML and I tried to watch that last week.

Agreed. It’s bleeped to the point that you miss not only jokes but 3-4 minute segments.

That seems absurd

For a stand up act on cable after midnight.

I am also a fan of Kevin Hart

seen him?

Raise your hand if...

Your lite
Drunj
Or getting there?

Waves hand.

Squints and has trouble focusing.

I'm one away.

And I’m going to get it right now.

Thats what i want to hear

About half a bottle of vodak gone, looking to to the other half

I think I'm six beers in.

But that’s over 5 hours.

Oh boy, I'm 6 in over 3 hours.

And not the lite kind.

I've been going slow,

but haven’t eaten anything since about 3.

well that probably evens things out
You are your JoePa shots are responsible for a good number of us.
Don't make me put up another Fan Post.
heres an idea

we keep the joepa presser drinking game and just play those over and over again.

That last drink fixed it.

Now I’m banged up.

I just got the vodka back out of the freezer.
I have never once known...

…you to need Vodka.

You are drinking G&T’s and I’m drinking Rum & Diet.

FACT.

You know,

y’all are a pretty cool family. I would die if my mom or dad was on here to see what I typed!

I do need to finish those rules.
I figure you can just replay old joe ones instead of BOB's

especially since he really doesnt use names.

I just need to find a way

to buy copies of old Joe pressers.

Go for it

The last post brought him back from the (alleged) dead, what could the next one do?

I passed on the 5th glass of wine.

Need to drive my daughter back to college tomorrow morning. Or this morning rather.

Pansy.

I’m on my third bottle today.

…and yes, I threw a tequila & limoncello in the mix there as well.

i wish.

not in the mood for Beast Ice at the moment

You say that like there is such a thing as a mood for beast ice.

this is true. you are correct. the mood doesnt exist. its the mood to be wasted

for less money

but right now. i dont want to be drunk enough to have to drink that
Hoping to be Drunj soon

But in the mean time, I guess I’m ‘getting there.’

Lucky for you,

your DD doesn’t drink.

I’m cranking up the bus now — sit tight until I get there!

84, there's a generation or two between us

But I’d be honored to get the chance to have a few drinks with you sometime- if that opportunity provides itself.

Second that one

Can we have a BSD reunion in State College?

How about Blue/White weekend? I will be there!

I wish I could be there.

Probably too close to finals week.

Man, that would be amazing

if someone can set that up!

I’ve been wanting to get back to HV for a game for a long time — might be the tipping point if I knew I could meet a lot of you!!

I will def be there

So we can set something up in town or something for anyone else going.

Also want to be there for the first home game in eptember to welcome BoB to PSU.

I will be there for both THON and BW weekends

If anyone else would like to meet up for that I would be honored.

Works for me.

That would be another very good reason to drive up for the BW game.

On a more positive note

Is anyone going to SC for THON? I plan to, because it’s a great opportunity to showcase the good PSU has done. If anyone plans to be up there for it, I’d welcome the chance to meet some of you in person.

I wish I could

I would love to do that. Had a few people die of cancer, and just sent in my donation. My brother did it all 4 years he was at PSU, when it was stil in rec hall.

I would be honored as well --

even if I rely on coffee for my buzz.

Well, chances are I'd drink some beer if I were in SC

But I’ll fully admit that coffee is my drug of choice. So I can’t argue with that.

You can be the DD

for everyone! LOL! I’m sure you’ve gotten that before.

I used to help drunk SF soldiers

get home. Best hand-to-hand combat training I ever had.

Not to take away from our vigil tonight,

but who do we like in the NFL tomorrow? Patriots and BOB all the way?

might as well as long as the giants lose

Amen to that

Eagles fan, and there are alot of giants fans that live near me, they are insufferable.

I was an Eagles fan for a long time.

Eagles fans are insufferable.

Yeah some are

I am in eastern PA, hour north of Philly, and I am constantly defending Eagles fans to everyone else. Hard to do at times.

I love the Eagles.

The Steelers just signed me in free agency.

Seems about right

You can tell us all the fun you have with Derrick Williams then.\

Lot of FB Chatter over DWill

He would have never made the team this year.

But next year is a different team. I just hope they cut Sepulveda lose so Kapinos can be the official punter, despite the fact that he has done it for two years straight already.

Never understood that one

Kapinos was solid for them, and to get rid of him before the season? Didn’t know what the hell was going on

I could write a 1,000 words.

The answer is… Pittsburgh

I know exactly what you mean

Sadly…

I liked the DWill signing

but it was tempered by also signing Troy Smith. That was unpleasant

Neither one is going to make the team
this is true
Eggles are the only Philly outfit I can suffer.

I’m in San Diego and in the navy…I feel your pain. rough year all around for sports teams

Denver78

Thank you for your service. God Bless!

This has nothing to do with the NFL, but I like to complain about it.

I live an hour from South Bend, and being around so many ND fans is enough to drive a sane man to the brink.

Can only imagine
Just got home...

heard the news/rumors and everything. i think im too shocked to feel feelings. any news station better to watch than another? wnep? wbre? espn? cnn?

thanks

Phil Schoener is trash.

Worst local sports anchor I ever heard. Dude seems lost and yet he’s a veteran.

the only thing to rely on 100 percent is Jay tweets.

so we’ve learned.

this thread is a candidate to become the most disjointed one ever

but I suppose that’s understandable given the circumstances. banter away.

I have yet

to read one that’s not disjointed

It's the nature of open threads.

You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

now for some BTO ....
are we going to TCOB?
BTO played in St. College in '88 or '89

Trying to remember which bar they played. My roommate went, I didn’t.

Before my time.

You can play some Dirges or Emerald City, though :o) But Velveeta was my favorite band in grad school.

Never mind.

I get the reference now. Wasn’t intended! LOL!

Wish your time had been my time.

Bet you woulda enjoyed Stolyn Hours, Queen Bee and the Blue Hornet Band, and some dude name Ken who played Zeno’s and could do some amazing sound-alikes of acoustic rockers.

I'm sure I would have.

I liked the original music scene in the early to mid-90s. When I came back in ’98, it had mostly switched to cover bands.

Why do reports say "Former Penn State Football Coach Joe Paterno"?

Why don’t they say, “Penn State Professor Joe Paterno”? We have confirmed from the press releases and Town Halls that he’s still a tenured professor.

easier for people

to remember him as a football coach than prof

Because the MSM doesn't give a shit about anything other than football.

It doesn’t matter how much we remember him for everything else, to the ignorant masses he’s

just a football coach

For the same reason they don't say

philanthropist or leader. It doesn’t fit the agenda du jour.

Yeah it's all about the agenda. God you guys are micro analyzing and being paranoid

if you really think they aren’t going to put former PSU football coach. Look I think the media did him in big time but come on, this is nothing.

Don't know if ya'll had any visits from Texas yet

but God bless both the Penn State family and the Joe Paterno. I started following your blog when the scandal broke out and have supported you guys all the way and in the end I believe his legacy will last longer than scandals because good always win in the end!
P.S thanks for coaching Sean Lee up, he’s an amazing ilb for the Cowboys and will be for a long time

Thank you very much

We truly appreciate it!

Thanks!

And glad y’all appreciate Sean!

thanks a lot tex
Always good to hear from the great state of Texas!

Esp. a Pokemon fan — my boys grew up with them, and I loved how they knew everything about them!!

Thank you!

Damn I wish we still had Lee.

One of my favorite players

Had such energy and emotion. Loved his style of play.

CBS finally

apologizes

It was funny...

Listening to the intro of the WTAJ newscast (CBS affiliate) here in SC. It was pretty much “We do NOT get our PSU news from CBS Sports, we NEVER reported that he died, we ALWAYS verify multiple sources before reporting anything.”

Briefly read through some of the comments on that page

I weep for humanity.

Why would you do that to yourself

I know comments are like a car crash, but I thought by now we all knew to look away.

At the bar...

Doing shots of Old Grand Dad in honor of Joe.

I'm thinking back to our great linebackers over the last 5-6 years.

Did Dan Conner ever has a knee injury?

In the pros,

not at PSU.

First year in pro had a torn ACL

Never at PSU. Seems to be a solid LB at Carolina these days

Thank ya.

I’m looking forward to watching Navarro tomorrow. And I wonder how DWill is gonna work out in Pittsburgh.

Based on his limited contributions in Detroit

and the depth at WR the Steelers have, I think it’ll be tough for him to see the field.

I met him this year at the Iowa game.

He was signing autographs, I asked him if he was going to suit up for us that day. He laughed, said he would if he could.

I'm not as think as you drunk I am..
I am too drunk to write any more

I am going to get more drunk.

I will see you guys tomorrow.

have fun bra!
Peace

Quitter…

Fun fact.

I’ve been in Joe’s office. I may have mentioned it before. But I feel the need to mention it again. The circumstances of the entry are noteworthy, but not necessarily a point of discussion for this thread. Not how I got in, but who let me in. A small world/coincidence thing.

Come one, don't tease

Spill it MainLion

As long as someone gives a shit.

1999/2000ish. An older sibling, also a PSU alum, was a student in an engineering discipline. He tutored football players on the side, so he had access to Lasch. My folks and I came to visit, and he and one of the players, more of a “reserve” guy, showed us the study area (the carrells stick out), the half-moon video/big screen room, the weight room, and a couple other things. We stopped outside of the door to Joe’s office, but it was locked. Purely by coincidence, the cleaning person, an older gentleman, asked us if we wanted to see the inside. He had to empty the waste baskets. Of course we did. So, he opened the door. When we walked in, to the right was Joe’s desk, as often photographed, then in front of it (I think) a couch, then in front of that, a smaller conference table. Windows, and then to the left, down a small hall, was a kitchenette and I think a shower (he mentioned it), but we did not snoop that far. We wandered for five minutes at most, then left. No pictures, unfortunately, but we weren’t prepared.

Since all of this shit, I wondered whether the guy who let us in was the guy mentioned in certain reports/articles. I don’t recall his age specifically, but I also don’t recall him being terribly old.

Thats Awesome

So cool you could get in and see it all in its glory.

I was fortunate. My brother introduced me to some players

and also took me some pretty great places. E.g., I watched the 2002 Super Bowl at Bryan Scott’s apartment in Copper Beech. Not the North Atherton one, but the (then) other one. I think there are more now. My main memory was the stunningness of the gals there.

Nice

Stunningness is a great word, might have to steal that. Such a shame that there are times where words are not in existence to describe the moment. That seems like one.

I meet Matt Millen a few times when I was a youth, went to school with one of his kids for a few years, well he was a grade behind me, but at a small catholic grade school. Seems real laid back and very approcahable. Closest I got to “meeting” a player.

I've been in Les Miles' office.

They arrested me and cuffed me just as quick as they found me.

How many grand juries did it take to indict you?

Sorry, don’t mean to sound bitter.

I just want to be on record as the person who rec'd this.
I'm mostly a reader and don't comment very often

But I need to say that I love you guys. Joe is my lifelong hero. We all know the amazing things that he’s done… And I’d also like to say that I’m sorry. I’m sorry this all had to happen. He didn’t deserve it and neither did we. I love you, Joe Pa! I love you Penn State!

Thanks, GunSlinger!

I fell in love with BSD and its people — it’s like an oasis of sanity in the midst of a mad, mad world.

You should comment more often

This is a good group of people, and you seem like a person who would fit in.

Rest easy tonight, Joe.

You probably have no idea how many of us are thinking of you and saying a prayer tonight.

’night all.

Tried to go drown my sorrows

And found out the party was shut down 10 minutes before I showed up.

Then I slipped in the ice and laughed hysterically while my worried friends watched.

Youre always welcome to drown your sorrows with us
I may take you up on that.
I'm still young, and not all that far from State College

You would be most welcome to join me anytime!

If I do join you

I’m holding you personally responsible for making sure I don’t fall on my saw again.

sorry, autocorrect.

“saw” should be “ass”. Though if you could also stop me from falling on saws I would be very grateful.

lol I will take responsibility for making sure

That you do notend up on your ‘saw’ again. But seriously, I remember entire nights making sure my female friends didn’t fall on the way home from a party to their dorm / aparment. Where were your friends?

A few feet away, staring at me.

Maybe I need better friends.

I remember a certain night

Running into a girl who was lost around Prospect Ave. My buddy and I spent 2 hours and a 15 dollar cab ride (a lot as an undergrad!) making sure she got back to her sorority floor ok. I won;t knock on your friends, because I don’t know the situation. All I can do is assure you that there are some guys out there who will help a girl out.

That's incredibly, wonderfully sweet.

Seriously, on behalf of college girls everywhere, thank you.

Looking back, I guess it was

At the time I was more annoyed that it took that much effort to get her home. But I guess you could say JVP had an influence me, and i wanted to be a better man.

Joe Paterno.

Inspiring the protection of Penn State’s integrity and random sorority girls.

This is sad, but I don’t think I know any college guys who would go through that much trouble.

Well it was me and a good friend

So there werre are least two of us. I only graduated in 2010. I have some friends who are still in the area – I’d like to think they still have some morality.

Hopefully they will carry on the tradition of being respectful, but if not let me know and I’ll see if I can bust some skulls.

I'll definitely let you know if there are any skulls to busted.

And I’ve been told it isn’t fun to be kicked by my heels. So we can double-team the next guy to laugh at me when I slip.

lol just let me know

I’ll be back in the area for Thon, and I think it’s just as fun (if not funnier) to make fun on guys who fall.

I’ll gladly team up on them with you.

thon weekend would be even better.

I’ll be sleep deprived and will need assistance. Plus, nothing can make a great weekend better like skull bashing people who deserve it.

well if you need some skull bashing, let me know

I’ll be there repping PSU class of 2010

There had to have been

another party, right?! But most of us have slipped in the ice, so no worries!

When I was an undergrad

I had a friend who had an apartment in Cedar brook that overlook the corner of Locust and Beaver right by Canyon. We used to get drunk and laugh at people who fell on the ice coming down the hill on locust lane. I don’t care if that isn’t the most moral thing to do, it was funny to watch girls in 4 inch heels curse when they fell on an ice covered sidewalk.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, sorry to any of the girls I made fun of. But it was still funny to watch.

theres videos on youtube of this happening.
As a girl who fell

I completely support your actions. It was indeed funny as hell.

Thanks

When I was posting that I felt kind of bad. You reassured me that what we did was standard PSU behavior.

Still, I have to take this in context. I wish I had tipped my hat to any females, and rushed to help them up when they fell.

Yankee!

LOL!

As a centrial Pennsylvanian

I’m not sure ‘Yankee’ is a great word to describe me. I think ‘well educated hick’ fits best. But go on as you wish.

Seeing as how I'm from Alabama,

anyone who lives north of Virginia is a Yankee. And that’s even stretching it!

You know you're a true Southerner when people from Kentucky are Notherners.
lol I understand

My friends from the DC area disagree though. The ones from DC and MD call me a hick, while the ones from VA call me a yankee. I don’t think I can win this battle.

Hick and Southerner

are not synonyms. There’s lots of hicks from all parts of the country. Not everyone can be a Southern Gentleman (or Belle).

I never claimed to be either

Just thought it was funny that you called me a Yankee. You might be the first person ever to use that specific word to describe me.

Well, I'm probably the only one here,

who is a true Southerner. If you were, you would have helped the ladies up! LOL!

You got me.

I won’t claim to be a southern gentleman. Just a well educated hick who tried to be a good person. Should I have run downstairs to help those girls up? probably. But I won’t lie and say I did. By the time I got downstairs they prob.would have been gone anyway.

Still, I did my best to act with honor when I things came my way. BTW you can call me a yankee. It doesn’t really bother me. I just thought it was funny because I haven’t been called that before.

Regardless, I still love your opinion Paige.

You're right.

I’m just giving you a hard time (TWSS). It’s what I do, just ask anyone!

Oh don't worry

I was hoping that was the case. I just can’t get over the humor in hearing myself called a Yankee. In fact, I’d love to hear that continue. It’s kind of amusing. :)

You should hear me speak.

You would really find that amusing. True southern accent!

OH! I'd love that. My sourthern friends don't have heavy accents.

Please do tell!

Do tell!

Had a friend who’d say “do tell” often back in the day! lovely reminder.

I've spent over 75% of my life in the South,

in various states. I don’t sound like a redneck, but I have a nice accent.

Im in Northern MD.

My coworkers range from MI, to PA, to GA and AL. None of them have accents at all though,no matter where they are from.

I lost my accent

when we lived in Virginia Beach when I was a kid, got it back when we moved to Georgia, kept it once I moved to PA. Not ever losing it again!

You mean

you resisted the opportunity to talk Pittsburghese?

God, yes.

Even got my college roommate from Pittsburgh saying y’all instead of yinz.

Gotta go,

good night all!

Good night!

Nice talking to you!

I tend to pick up

accents. When we lived in Fayetteville, NC while Mark was at Ft Bragg, I worked with a girl who was of German decent and started having a (nasty) accent. Fortunately that didn’t last long.

You should host

a podcast sometime!

I wouldn't even know how.

But I do record my lectures every week.

Do they drip syrup?
Probably not that bad.

But when I presented at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and my time got cut short ahead of time, I made a joke about not being able to talk very fast and everyone loved it!

I never thought about the

incongruence of southern accent/timings and fast talk. Is it possible for a southerner to become an auctioneer?

Maybe some.

But all I heard when I lived in Pittsburgh was how slow I talked! People thought I must be stupid because I talked slower than they did.

Absolutely,

southern auctioneers talk fast with words that have more syllables!

You have to pronouce every vowel!
Here, Here, Paige!

rec again and again

Is this the real CHPHT

or a Sears CHPHT?

NOT Sears

I’m the Real HePuHuTh. Received my PhT at PSU in 84!!

Just asking if 84

was posin’ again.

84 does do that

I was in the shower and he took a turn on my laptop. Thanks for getting things cleared up.

On a rainy day

I watched a girl completely wipe out on her bike on the asphalt by Mifflin Hall. She was turning, and her tires slid out from under her on the slick asphalt. 3 people ran over to check if she was ok. I chuckled and kept walking. I guess I was a dick. But at the time, I hated students on bikes.

I fell flat on my ass due to an ice puddle by Sharkies once.

I fell so many times I can't count.

Only injured myself twice, but one of them was a slipped disc.

A friend invited me to his place.

We’ll see how that goes.

Now that I’ve allowed myself to indulge I’m BSD again I can feel the addiction coming back, though. I kinda don’t want to leave.

I know what you mean,

I have to wake up in 5 hours and yet can’t log off the computer…

Stay up tonight

and blame BSD in the morning. It’s been a rough night, you deserve to indulge.

Go and have fun, sis!
I'm trying!

I want to come home with a cool story to tell you in the morning. So far all I’ve got is “fell on ground. Friends think I’ve lost it. Cop driving by glared at me suspiciously. Laughed at him.”

Great Man

Joe Paterno is a great man. Well informed and smart people will always remember the man thousands of Penn Staters fondly refer to as “Joe Pa” for his accomplishments on the field, his integral role in Penn State’s growth into the school it is today, his philanthropy, and all he did for his players. The world will never see another Joe Paterno. Few coaches care more about the people they coach than their record of wins and losses. It just so happened that caring about people translated into enormous success for Joe Paterno. He will forever be a hero of mine and will always make me proud to be named Joe.

Amen to that Shades
Yes

Well before he was ever known as JoePa, or the first utterance of “We Are”, we knew we had something special, and so did the the scores of players who made their way to Penn State (before it was colloquially known as Happy Valley outside of…well, Happy Valley). People tend to measure Joe in the here and now, how very different it was in the ’70s. Archaic by comparison.

Night, all!

Keep praying — for Joe and his family, for Penn State, for us, and for yourselves. God loves you!

lata BSD brethren
I've been chatting above

with some wonderful people, but must leave now.

May God wrap His arms around all of you. And how wonderful it was that your university was blessed with Joe for such an astounding number of years, with such a phenomenal record of success. Be grateful…and be patient with the new coaches…Life and football go on. Love you.

Love you redvalley

Peace out and God Bless and all of that whatnot.

Night Ya'll

Check on ya’s in the am

I think it's time for Roll Call.

Who’s still here?

I am

For a little bit atleast

Kinda here.

Drunk, trying to practice my Illustrator skills by making a “Joe Knows Trolling” design with a silhouette of his head.

Wouldn't that be better to try sober?

I’m actually surprised I haven’t started my drunk DJ mojo. Speaking of which…

Yes.

Yes it would. I’m fucking awful with a tablet as it is sober.

Haq

I have a picture of the stadium all snowed in from tonight. Would love to photoshop a We are…Penn State or a more apropirate we love JoePa, and a snow angel. But my computer skills are lacking.

halfd abottle of vodak doesn’t really ejlp ,much either.

Email it over and I'll see what I can do.
Me
But you're not supposed to be!

Go to your friend’s house/apt! LOL!

Dealing with him is hard.

You know what’s easy? Messing around on the internet.

Plus, I’ve got no ride and it takes 40 minutes to get a cab on the weekend.

Then stay at home.

You don’t need a pain in the ass on top of everything else tonight.

She already has

one PITA from falling on her saw.

True,

one is definitely enough!

Paige,

as to an earlier post: I’m southern born and breed (NC). MR. Comfort swept me off my feet and took me to northern parts for a spell. We have returned to my home area.

Good for you!

Obviously a good influence. What part of NC?

Um, Paige

(maybe you should eat a bite of food.) I live with my adorable lion, PSU_Lion_84 who works at Duke U. ;)

I meant originally.

Or are you back in your hometown?

Home =)

3/4 mile from my parents house. My house, next is my oldest brother’s house, next to his house is my youngest brother’s house

Sounds like

a separatist compound!

Compound?

How to respond? Only Mark fells that way. Actually there are weeks, even months that pass and we might not even see each other . . . unless in vehicles

Got it!

Then I know roughly where you’re from! My parents live in Fuquay-Varina.

South of Greensboro, NC
I mostly know that part of NC

from driving through on my way to Raleigh.

Mrs.Comfort.

I’m trying to find a southern lady for myself right now. I’d say ‘84 did all right by himself from what you’ve posted so far.

Since you just graduated in 2010,

I’m sure I have a lot of students who would be good to introduce you to!

PPFCPP,

Where do you live? Am I correct in reading from Paige that you are a PSU 2010 graduate?

Correct.

I graduated in Dec. 2010. I have, since then, moved to MD (Baltimore / DC suburbs). Still a faithful PSU guy, but I’d love to move more south if my job will allow it (NC, SC or TN are at the top of my list).

Don't move to Columbia, SC

or Memphis, TN. Other than that, I can agree with your choices.

If you don't mind me asking

Why not columbia? That’s on my list along with Knoxville, Charlottd, and Augusta GA based on what my options appear to be.

I lived there for a year

and 8 months and hated it. Didn’t really meet anyone while I was there, it was oppressively hot even for the South, and I hated my job. So part of that could just be me projecting my misery on the town.

Understandable

I have some freinds in the area who said columbia is a good place to look. I’ll keepthis in mind.

Charleston is much better.

And there’s a nuclear power plant nearby.

I have to disagree.

I loved my four years in Columbia.

We lived in Metro DC

for about 8 years. First in MD then in Manassas. What kind of work are you seeking?

I'm in nuclear engineering

and happy with my current company. I’m looking fora possible internal transfer within the next year or to. I’d prefer not to look fora completely new job, but who knows what will happen over a couple years.

and for the record, I'm a solid hour north of DC

If anyone really cares, you can probably figure our where I work based on that. Not too many companies here.

NE,

oh wow, don’t think we have anything here in NC. Had a guy at church a few years back with his masters who couldn’t find a job, went back to school, got married and went where his wife was employed.

PPFCPP, thank you kind sir!

Mind you, just because he is 53 doesn’t mean I’m that old. lol ;)

Two.

I went down again on my way to the car.

If you carry that saw

with the teeth down, you get better traction.

back on BSD for a few hours

And I’ve already given everyone ammo. I’ll take very good care of my saw from now on, I promise!

the thing is, I'm not into dealing with emotions.

So I try to use sports or alcohol instead. The knicks already lost tonight and there’s nothing in the apartment, so…

Lurking for hours yet
You can only lurk

if doing it behind a bush…

It's been many, many, years

since I did it behind a bush.

Never too late.
I'll suggest that to the better half

and see what the response is. I can probably guess the answer, though.

Can always get fake plants

And put them around your bed, and pretend your doing it in the wooods.

Sorry, lame but best I can do while drunj.

Doing it in the woods

is easy, we live a quarter mile deep in the woods! Behind a bush is trickier, I may try the fake bushes just to confirm her opinion that I’m out of my mind.

BSD After Dark!
Ha! That far back in the woods

and you don’t have to wait for dark!

Wait,

you’re supposed to wait for me to start BSD After Dark!

Yes

Yes we do.

I'm finally around for BSDafterdark
Things get
A little blue…
What?!

The fun is just beginning! LOL!

Welcome to the club!
HAHA

Do it. set it up in yo9u rbedroom without any explaination, be like “justg go with it.”

It's all fun and games until she shows up with hedge shears.
Damn that is funny
I think something(s) just ascended...
That just made me laugh

so much!

Actually, I'm not scared

of the shears. Loppers, however…

Woo hoo!

Maybe I won’t be the last one on the thread!

I am. Drinking what I have left in an attempt to cope.
Here-ish

You know how people have been complaining about how American adults like to binge drink? Yeah… that’s all on me.

I think I've contributed

to my share of the blame!

Hit or miss.

Mrs. ML and I got Chipotle tonight. I opted for hot sauce and peppers and onions. Peppers and Onions 1, Me 0.

The news of my death have been greatly exaggerated
Great quote!!!
If I was sober and 15 years younger I'd be in SC with the students but I digress

I’m not sober

But you are 15 years younger?
Well I couldn't get past the first reason I couldn't go

So why worry about the rest?

I just finished beer 7!

But still over a 6 hour period now. I need to drink faster.

Yeha you do

So your basically sober, as per the 1 beer going through liver per hour rule. or something like that.

Except that I haven't eaten anything

in at least 8 or 9 hours.

I see the problem there.
As a central Penn hick (not a Yankee ;))

You should probably at least eat a piece of toast. We want you to be around commenting all night.

yeah a beer per hour wont' do much. its expensive to get drunk that way.
Well I know I had to much to drink

I think I just read a nice piece on Joe on pennlive. I’m out cause I think I’m hallucinating

Okay, loseing my buzz here

So must get some sleep.

Love all you BSD’ers. Without your help tonight would ahve been ridiculously hard, instead it was just hard to get through.

We Are, and always will be Penn State!!!

So profoundly sad

What people outside of the Penn State family don’t get is that Joe Paterno is more than just a legendary football coach. He is a great man that has had a positive impact on countless lives. Everyone has there shortcomings but Joe is all that is good about sport and the human spirit. JoePa, we love you so much and “You are PENN STATE!” We will never forget that!

signin off. gonna fall asleep to some breaking bad. LATERZ
Support

The comments I have read from fans from rival schools have been amazing. Even Ohio St. fans have been supportive and well wishing. Thank you all for realizing that there will never be another like Joe Paterno

My prayers are with your community from Chicago and Evanston

I’ve always admired Paterno for his high graduation rates and how he did mostly everything (pre-sandusky) right. He’s a good man who fought on the field honorably and was loyal to his institution. Godspeed Joe!

Thanks,

except for the pre-Sandusky comment thrown in there.

Sorry

touchy subject. I should’ve left that out.

Yes you should have,

but thank you for the apology and the kind words.

Yeah

Every damn article about his current condition ends with that. Seems like if you are reporting that he is about to die you wouldn’t finish with “and was shamed..” I should have learned from y’all but do not read the comments on ESPN.com. Sick ****s!

I've said this before

Ignore comments everywhere. They are the lowest of the low.

Sometimes I find myself doing that,

then it really pisses me off. I keep saying I should learn my lesson. But then again, I keep saying that about men, too.

Paige I think we are 2 of only 4-5 people still around
Sounds about right.

Par for BSD After Dark. Since I’m on central time, I’m usually up later than the east coasters!

Early morning hours

are the best time to work and lurk. No phone calls, no interruptions.

Not for me.

I usually don’t go into the office until 9 or 10. Of course, I usually teach until 8 on the nights that I have class, so that’s got something to do with it.

I tend to work until 4 or 5 AM

then catch 4 or 5 hours of sleep, then get back in the saddle again.

I've gotten to where I need more sleep than that!

I have to get at least 7 hours, it seems. I’m getting old!

Supposedly you need less

sleep as you get older. I’m testing that notion. If I get 4 or 5 good hours in one shot and a couple of half hour naps during the rest of the day, I can carry on. Of course, drinking Dew all day long probably helps…

I think that just counts when you get really old!

I can’t go on as little sleep as I could even just a few years ago. But I can’t nap during the day, either.

The gradual decline

If the changes in eyesight, hearing, and memory that I have experienced from 46 to 52 don’t slow down, I’ll just sit in the corner and drool when I reach 60!

Well, I'm 37.

Wow! Almost said 38, but that’s not for another few months! Haven’t really experienced the decline in eyesight and hearing, but my memory isn’t what it used to be (that could be alcohol related, though). The needing more sleep is what I’ve noticed more than anything.

I had a client that told me

(when I was still 38) that the body starts falling apart at 40. Of course I laughed it off then. But after playing soccer and volleyball for ~25 years without significant injury, I finally blew out a knee at 41. Go figure.

comments on espn.com are like the scribbling on a bathroom wall in school

there’s no accountability there. Here, there is because of the SBN community

Yup.

Don’t know why I figured everyone would show respect. Would love for someone to try to say those things in front of one of us.

lol

i like that comparison.

Alright, y'all.

I’m too lazy to make something to eat, so I think I’m just going to go to bed. Glad today ended the way it did. Nice talking to you all!

It’s good to hear he’s still alive.

I hope he can recover.

No News on the Night watch

and at this point that is good news right?

Morning!

Hey, you guys remember the time that Onward State tweeted that Joe died yesterday?

Wasn't that HILARIOUS?

I’m still fuming about their (and CBS’) irresponsible actions. Complete nonsense.

I was ripped on Boilo last night and heard Joe died, then still alive, then dead

I think puked around 6am and he was officially dead.

Crappy day so far….RIP Joe

Thank you all for this thread.

And the previous. We mourned, we laughed, and we went to bed hopeful. It did not end as we had hoped, but in a way, it ended as Joe would have liked. The media looking stupid, his loving fans not knowing the pain, and his family by his side. God bless, Joe.
