What are FanShots?Smee - February 16, 2012
FUN FACT.
Only 17 Fanshots have actually been read.
Chris Grovich - February 16, 2012
Chris - you sister in law was not impressed.
She claims “just goes to show you how many psu nerds love the internet”.
Don’t worry all…I swiftly kicked her in the tw*t.
My pimp hand is still strong and she is back in line.
SweepTheLeg - February 16, 2012
you kick with your hand?
The JuggerNitt - February 17, 2012
Actually...I am afraid of my wife. She is straight out of Brooklyn
SweepTheLeg - February 17, 2012
who doesn't kick with their hand?
BMAN13 - February 17, 2012
A certian Raiders player is known to punt with his arm..
leeharvey418 - February 17, 2012
THIS is why I come to BSD
The JuggerNitt - February 18, 2012
I just went over 3000 comments
hbeach08 - February 16, 2012
AKA...the amount of comments Rambler would have had in his brief absence so far
hbeach08 - February 16, 2012
I read that as
jtothep - February 16, 2012
that too
hbeach08 - February 16, 2012
I've been filling in.
Not to fully on Rambler level. But I’ve made up some of the lost production.
jesse. - February 16, 2012
Y'all do realize
that for just over three years, RR averaged a comment every 32 minutes?
PSUGuru - February 16, 2012
There should be a separate category...
for open thread comments.
It’s not really the same thing.
jesse. - February 16, 2012
There should also be a seperate category
For thread jacks.
I highly enjoy them, and comment more to that than anything else, especially when they occur in threads that are rehashing old arguments about IT.
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
I'm a fan of them
Especially within the last few days.
Side note, nothing is better than a solid whiskey discussion. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from my friends on BSD about whiskeys, and received some fantastic suggestions.
psuphysicist - February 16, 2012
Some can get really interesting
My favorite so far was the Breakfast meat discussing, I inadvertantly started last week. That was some good times to be had.
Not a fan of whiskey, vodka guy, and there really isn’t much you can say about vodka. I guess you can argue which is the best, or what drinks are the best made with vodka.
Anytime now that I see a thread going a couple hundred comments, usually it is about IT and I really don’t go there, unless I see a thread jack and then will whole heartedly participate. And obvioulsy throw in a few bunnies when needed.
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
Vodka is great
because it’s a perfect canvas to make any flavored liquor you want.
dbl5030 - February 16, 2012
That
And it is delicious.
But it really is the perfect type of liquor to mix alot of different things with. Especially if someone doesn’t like a strong liquor taste, a few vodka drinks will get the job done easily, and you might never taste the vodka (if made correctly)
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
Even cheap, crappy vodka is useful
I only use the cheapest, dirtiest vodka I can when I make vodka sauce. The point is to add flavor, which the good stuff doesn’t have because it’s filtered so well.
I’m also a big bloody mary guy. The Absolut Peppar stuff is fantastic for them.
dbl5030 - February 16, 2012
A good cheap Vodka is a good find
I am a Stoli guy myself. usualy order Vodka tonic when at a bar, since many don’t know how to properly make other drinks I like, especially the double 07 drink.
I have fallen in love with the Sweat Tea vodka, mix that with lemonade, and get a John Daly (Drunken Arnold Palmer) it is highly refreshing and very tasty,
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
Absolut Ruby Red and Tonic is very refreshing and delicious
letsgopsu - February 16, 2012
I just started drinking vodka instead of beer,
but I don’t like tonic, so what’s something else that is low or no calorie that I can get at a bar? At home I’ve been using Crystal Light!
Paige2PSU - February 17, 2012
There are a few things
Cranberry, get your antioxidents from that. Can also do my favorite, the double 07, orange vodka, with OJ and a splash of Club, very refreshing.
AriesGD - February 17, 2012
Hate cranberries.
Paige2PSU - February 17, 2012
Yeah, I was never a fan of "Zombie" either
Didn’t mind “Linger” as much, tho.
IcersGuy - February 17, 2012
There's no need to argue...
Over the worst cranberries song
87Townie - February 19, 2012
You are my salvation.
Bob Sacamano - February 20, 2012
Actually, (don't laugh) Diet Dr. Pepper with a twist of lime works well.
Also, since you are in the south you likely have a Sonic handy. Vodka blends wonderfully with that outstanding diet limeaide they now sell.
SubLime - February 17, 2012
I actually started mixing at home
With Diet Snapple lemon, and it is really good.
AriesGD - February 17, 2012
Thanks guys!
And what’s a good vodka to buy that’s not going to break the bank? I’ve bought SKYY so far.
Paige2PSU - February 17, 2012
See if you can find Tito's Handmade over there.
It comes from Austin and is fantastic. My wife has two bottles packed in my car as a write (we are off for our annual four days of Carnival debauchery in New Orleans once I teach these two damn classes).
SubLime - February 17, 2012
Anything acidic will mix great
AKA, if it has something to do with citrus, it will also have something to do with vodka.
dbl5030 - February 17, 2012
titos is f*cking fantastic
Hamulus - February 17, 2012
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
I head to NOLA next Monday. Will miss all the best debauchery.
letsgopsu - February 17, 2012
My favorite brand is Stoli
But also Absolute is not bad, for a cheaper variety.
AriesGD - February 17, 2012
Absolute is great if you want to have variety on hand
not too expensive, but still good.
I love Stoli. Right now I have plain, vanilla and cherry in my freezer. Stoli strawberry with champagne is one of my favorites things also. The smell of ice cold Stoli strawberry is fantastic without even tasting it.
letsgopsu - February 17, 2012
Some of the sweet tea ones are very reasonable
great with lemonade
letsgopsu - February 17, 2012
Sweet Carolina Vodka
Great stuff, and several flavors, prefer the raspberry one, with lemonade…ie the John Daly (drunken Arnold Palmer). They also came out with a Lemonade Vodka through Sweet Carloina, not to bad at all, remniscent of Limoncello.
AriesGD - February 17, 2012
Pelligrino and lemon juice concentrate.
Trust me on this.
Chris Grovich - February 17, 2012
Grapefruit juice
nps - February 17, 2012
Diet Dew
PSUGuru - February 17, 2012
a slice of lime,
Greygoose and a slice of lime is all I need.
BMAN13 - February 17, 2012
with the Absolute Ruby Red
club soda would be good, but if you don’t like tonic you may not like that.
letsgopsu - February 17, 2012
Thanks for all of the suggestions, guys!
Screen printed for the store later on!
Paige2PSU - February 17, 2012
Bloody Marys are fantastic
The only time I switch from bloody marys are in the fall when there is fresh apple cider. A handle of Captain Morgan mixed with a gallon of apple cider and a little bit of cinnamon heated slightly is the perfect october tailgate starter. It is a dangerous concoction, but well worth it
psuphysicist - February 16, 2012
I don't doubt it.
That sounds amazing.
dbl5030 - February 16, 2012
My GF, with very discerning taste buds,
Has no problem really putting the stuff back.
Its best to only make a set amount, and then switch it up to beer later.
Rule number 1 for lasting all day: plan ahead when sober to remove dangerous/destructive options when drunk, because you definitely won’t make the best decision then
psuphysicist - February 16, 2012
I find also
A few gatorades helps with an all day drink fest. Will replenish your electrolites and keep you going.
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
Brawndo!
It’s got what plants crave!
nylyst - February 16, 2012
I use the cheap vodka for basic jello shots
but sometimes I go gourmet
Cherry jello with Stoli vanilla
Orange jello with Absolut Mandarin
yum
letsgopsu - February 16, 2012
Yeah you going high end with jello-shots
I have made them with grain in college…didn’t tell anyone, yeah people got messed up on them.
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
that is not even nice
I have used tequila with lime jello, it was not too bad but I am not friends with tequila anymore so I did not enjoy it. Or the smell that wafted out of the fridge every time I opened it.
letsgopsu - February 16, 2012
Ugh
I hear you on that one letsgo. At my buddy’s bachelor party last May, we made something like 160 jello shots. Tequila with lime, Orange with Madarin, etc. Most of them were delicious except for the Tequila ones. Tequila and I don’t get along so, as you said, everytime I opened the cooler I wanted to hurl. Not very fun. Especially when my friends harassed me until I took one of the Tequila ones. Great friends.
jman07 - February 17, 2012
Tequila is evil.
THE. END.
Paige2PSU - February 17, 2012
pretty much every one of my "bad" drinking nights involved tequila
usually towards the end (at least of what I remember)
The JuggerNitt - February 17, 2012
One really bad one,
was all it took for me.
Paige2PSU - February 17, 2012
As the wise Jim Breuer says
it’s like a party in your stomach. When tequila shows up, it always starts with one but then tequila tries to bring all his friends.
jman07 - February 17, 2012
I love that skit for how honest it is
The JuggerNitt - February 17, 2012
If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times
What kind of human looks at an agave plant and thinks, “yeah, i could make something to drink out of that.” Therein lies your problem.
Smee - February 17, 2012
probably a descendent of the first person to eat cheese.
oh, look over there, some rotting, spoiled, disgusting milk. Well, I guess I’ll give it a taste.
The JuggerNitt - February 18, 2012
Gotta go one step backward
Who was the first people to look at a cow’s utter, and say, wahtever comes out of that I will drink?
AriesGD - February 18, 2012
or looked at a chicken and said
the next thing out of that things butt is mine.
3Yardout - February 18, 2012
Crabs, clams, scallops, and shrimp are all some of my favorite things...
and there’s not a one of them I would want to eat after having looked at them.
Of course, tequila is my favorite. Mister Beam is the guy who usually has me regretting my bad decisions in the morning.
BNittsDeMilo - February 20, 2012
if you were REALLY good friends with Mr. Beam
he would use his MIB memory eraser on you whenever you hung out.
The JuggerNitt - February 20, 2012
Its either tequilla or whiskey that does me in
The difference is tequilla sucks.
psuphysicist - February 17, 2012
I can't do straight Jager anymore
Got real messed up on it once, can’t touch it since.
AriesGD - February 17, 2012
I have two drinking episodes where I do not remember hours of time
One involved tequila and a Buffett show.
The other featured mimosas, Blackhaus (it was new and they were giving it away for free at a chili cookoff) and other fun items the guys at the Grateful Dead Chili booth next to ours gave me.
letsgopsu - February 17, 2012
I've never heard of crabs described as a "fun item"
Unless one ordering it off of a seafood menu.
The JuggerNitt - February 18, 2012
Wife makes a drink with Blackhaus.
2 parts cranberry
1 part Blackhaus
splash of sours mix
Tastes like swedish fish.
BMAN13 - February 18, 2012
I can't smell the stuff after that episode
letsgopsu - February 18, 2012
Used to hammer the Old Mister Boston Vodka.
BMAN13 - February 17, 2012
Best thing to do with cheap, crappy vodka
is make your own pepper vodka .. cut up your peppers of choice, i use a mix of jalapeno, scotch bonnet and thai chilies and put em in the bottle for about a week.. drain/strain and voila pepper vodka that’ll blow away anything you can buy… works with lemon too (just use like the zest of 3-4 lemons)
mbailey71 - February 20, 2012
There are a few things like this you can do
One is to get a full bunch of lemons and sugar, sut the lemons in half, add about 2 cups of sugar to a full bottle of vodak, and let it sit until the sugar completely dissolves…and you have some good drinking, very potent.
Can also take jolly ranchers and drop them in a bottle of vodka, wait util they all dissolve, and same effect.
AriesGD - February 20, 2012
Here's what I like to do
-Buy a bottle of whiskey/bourbon/scotch
-Drink it
-Feel like a man
skarocksoi - February 21, 2012
To be fair
Those drinks I made in college, when a real cheap bottle of vodka taasted like metal, so needed something to sweeten them up to the point I can stand getting drunk off them.
Now I am pretty much exclusively Vodka tonics.
AriesGD - February 21, 2012
Real men drink brown liquor.
leeharvey418 - February 21, 2012
Freshman year of high school
One of the seniors on the baseball team imparted this little bit of wisdom with me…if it’s black send it back, If it’s brown, drink it down.
jman07 - February 21, 2012
Hmmm...
I think whoever said that isn’t giving Gosling’s a fair chance.
leeharvey418 - February 21, 2012
Discovered the Dark & Stormy

With blue cheese stuffed olives.

There have been a serious lack of bunnies lately.

I passes 10,000 a few weeks ago.
I think the entire comment was “Right”.
jesse. - February 16, 2012
apparently just passed 15,000, probably yesterday
I remember the days when I had more than Rambler, but I doubt I’ll be reaching the 40-50k mark any time soon.
The JuggerNitt - February 17, 2012
I recently hit 1000 comments,
which seems like a lot to me, and makes me marvel at Rambler’s body of work here.
icavalera - February 16, 2012
I recently broke 6000, didn't know that til I just checked.
BMAN13 - February 17, 2012
It seems like the biggest factor in compiling a lot of comments
is participation in open threads, which I don’t do very often. The 2nd biggest factor seems to be participation in debates with M1EK.
icavalera - February 17, 2012
Yup.
One and Two respectively.
jesse. - February 17, 2012
you are a BSD All American!

If that girl...
Didn’t get up and quit the cheer-squad that second, she is a fool. If I were her Dad, I’d have hauled her off the mat right there.
jesse. - February 16, 2012
well, considering it looks like she gets up to do one of those "lifts", I guess she's a fool
The JuggerNitt - February 17, 2012
I wonder if this girl

AriesGD - February 16, 2012
She will someday....
sue her school for concussion-like symptoms realized in her younger days as a member of the cheer squad. I don’t understand how she continued.
DerryPharmer - February 16, 2012
I know what you mean Derry
Everytime I watch that clip, I don’t think she will stand up, since her neck was snapped. Hard to watch actually.
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
have you seen some of the falls elite gymnasts take?
the balance beam is 4 inches of terror
letsgopsu - February 16, 2012
She is hot.
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
Alicia Sacramone
she is one of my favorites. But she dates Brady Quinn. Ew.
letsgopsu - February 16, 2012
Damn
Not as hot to me anymore, since she is with him.
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
she did this for that ESPN Bodies series they did. This takes GUTS
letsgopsu - February 16, 2012
Holy hell
That is ridiculously artistic and hot.
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
As a photographer, I admire the . . . um . . .
lighting.
CvilleLion - February 16, 2012
that is a beautiful photo
I also know some men who say that gymnasts are not athletes. Those men are asshats.
letsgopsu - February 16, 2012
Well they are total athlets
The only problem is like all of them are 16 when in the olympics, so just wierd looking at them as hot.
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
Hey
SI swimsuit issue came in the mail today. Although it is addressed to my 11-year-old son. Wife grabbed it.
Smee - February 16, 2012
Did you steal it back
So your son can read the articles?
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
That's Playboy!
I think. . .So I’ve heard. . . . Forget it!PSU_Lions_84 - February 18, 2012
Those men are asshats indeed.
In related news, I’m fulling planning on doing another gymnastics primer leading into the championships this season.
I’ve got to be one of fifteen people on this planet who gets excited for both ice hockey and gymnastics…
IcersGuy - February 17, 2012
Gymnastics is good stuff
One of my favorites as well. I was going to write up something to talk about our men’s V-Ball season so far, seems they are playing at a very high level right now, and good things hopfully will come of it.
AriesGD - February 17, 2012
I like them both.
FB6244 - February 17, 2012
I'm getting to a new point in my PSU gymnastics fandom
A few weeks ago, they showed pictures of the new leotards for the ladies, and I actually got excited. There was definitely a, “Wow. This is what it’s come to,” moment of reflection after that.
/not complaining
//Those new leos look good, in any case.
IcersGuy - February 17, 2012
Ha ha
I never critiqued their uniforms……
FB6244 - February 17, 2012
Do they happen to
look anything like the above? If so, I approve sight unseen.
rahpsu92 - February 17, 2012

letsgopsu - February 16, 2012
Excuse me...
I have to go “be alone” for a moment… brb..
icavalera - February 16, 2012
I think I'm in love.
psuphysicist - February 17, 2012
She any relation to Johnny Sack?
Wasn’t his last name also supposed to be Sacramone? Maybe it was spelled differently, though…
icavalera - February 16, 2012
After seeing how big Ginny was
I don’t think they’re related!
Tailgate Shogun - February 17, 2012
I used to think the same thing about Brady Quinn, too.
But then he went and did this – http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20536012,00.html. In short, he gave up his back-up QB role on the Broncos to fly out to Japan to be with Alicia when she had to get surgery on her achilles tendon. Even I have to admit – that’s pretty freaking romantic.
(It also opened the door for Tebow-mania, but lets be fair – that was inevitable.)
IcersGuy - February 17, 2012
I just remember him sweating it out on draft day
I lol’d
letsgopsu - February 17, 2012

psuphysicist - February 16, 2012
I sense a disturbance in the blogs.
I just hope M1EK isn’t my father.
dbl5030 - February 16, 2012
Just watch out for heavily bankrolled guys.
Jeff Junstrom - February 16, 2012
It sounds like you're trolling up the score.
Chris Grovich - February 16, 2012
It's because you're abstaining too often these days
You passed on prime opportunities to slay ramzy & cook and you all invited kleph in for a ‘hey pal come be friends and kick us in the nuts.’
Still, you look like you might be headed for a win (or at least another match) if Ben Jones keeps up the recruiting pursuits at statecollege.com.
jtothep - February 17, 2012
I have been critical of people on this blog before (though not for a long while)
But Christ, if I had to read blogs with guys like Ramzy or Cook writing on them, I’d kill everything that ever lived. Lawdhamercy, those guys stand out as smug pricks, even against a background littered with some of the smugger pricks one could ever encounter. It’s pretty remarkable, actually.
OctaShields - February 17, 2012
I feel ya.
jtothep - February 17, 2012
Yea, I just don't have the energy for a full-scale blog war these days.
Especially since I actually like the recruiting guys (and some others) at 11W and mGo. kleph holds a new, not-so-special place in my heart after Paterno’s death (that’s as far as I’ll go on the record).
Jeff Junstrom - February 17, 2012
I feel ya
jtothep - February 17, 2012
But I see you still have energy for the smaller, Twitter fights
Which I’m fine with, because I’ll be damned if they don’t make me laugh.
IcersGuy - February 17, 2012
You'll notice I don't start them.
Others feel the need to attack.
Jeff Junstrom - February 17, 2012

dbl5030 - February 17, 2012
Indeed, and that's what makes it even better
The “Cosmo is a jump up from Disney” argument might be one of my favorites of all time.
IcersGuy - February 17, 2012
Is that what the link was?
I didn’t click on it. Mostly because I don’t care enough to. And “Cosmo” as in the magazine? Furreal??
Jeff Junstrom - February 17, 2012
Yeah, my curiosity got the better of me
And yes, it was a couple of pictures she must have done for Cosmo, the magazine. Maybe one of these days she’ll do a show/movie for one of those naughty cable channels like Comedy Central or FX.
IcersGuy - February 17, 2012
I wonder what he'll do when she appears in a magazine he doesn't read...
Jeff Junstrom - February 17, 2012

Alright, time to explain the internet to me
Difference between visits and page views?
Also, are these 8.9 visits since BSD started way back whenever?
ICEICETHATGUY13 - February 16, 2012
Crudely.
Visits = Number of people
PV’s = Number of pages viewed by all those people
For BSD, the PV to Visits ratio generally seems to be a slight bit over 2:1 each month:

And yes, the totals in the post are since the very beginning.
Chris Grovich - February 16, 2012
A visit is you coming here. A pageview is the number of pages...you view.
Think of it like visiting a house. The visit is you getting there, the pageview is the number of rooms you see.
And I’m sure those numbers are from the beginning, though I’m not exactly sure when that officially was (actual BSD vs. SBN BSD).
Jeff Junstrom - February 16, 2012
Weirdly enough...
Sitemeter has lower numbers for the history of the site (though that could be due to Sitemeter being installed after SBN BSD was up and running many years ago…I don’t know):
VISITS
Total 8,721,196
Average Per Day 11,164
Average Visit Length 3:29
Last Hour 652
Today 10,945
This Week 78,149
PAGE VIEWS
Total 19,716,223
Average Per Day 24,556
Average Per Visit 2.2
Last Hour 1,499

This Week 171,889

That is all well and good
But how close are we to total Internet domination?
AriesGD - February 16, 2012
Gotta tell my peeps about last night's insane dream.
was on the golf course with RUTS, TS, and some other old friends.
The group in front of us was very slow and we were getting pissed…the group behind us kept hitting balls landing in our area so we would throw them in the water or back at them.
Here is the good part…we confront the group and I get in fight with Jim Cantafio…I am screaming “do you have any pride”…I woke up and every muscle in my body is tense…can’t fall back asleep.
Nothing to do with this thread but had to share.
SweepTheLeg - February 16, 2012
I thought we
talked about you not dropping any more acid?
Tailgate Shogun - February 16, 2012
Chris,
do you have numbers for unique visitors?
PSUGuru - February 16, 2012
How do you capture a rare bunny?
Unique up on it.
PSU_Lions_84 - February 16, 2012
We may need a fanpost for telling of
the commentariats favorite puns/groaners…
PSUGuru - February 17, 2012
Pretty sure the bunny count is low
I personally have posted 3497 in the last two weeks.
jman07 - February 17, 2012
up the bunny count
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 17, 2012
Glitter bunny says hello.
CvilleLion - February 17, 2012
While I approve
Everyone has to remember to put a title to their pictures.
psuphysicist - February 17, 2012
So do these numbers mean we are an elite blog??
Jared Slanina - February 17, 2012
Not Virginia Tech elite
jman07 - February 17, 2012
By SBN metrics, at least
I believe we’ve jumped to No. 2 in college blog viewing numbers. I forget who No. 1 is, but BON, EDSBS, RBR and Testudo Times used to be up there (and probably still are).
Jeff Junstrom - February 17, 2012
I would have guessed the first three,
but Testudo Times surprises me.
SubLime - February 17, 2012
Testudo Times is a funny story.
I don’t know how much I can share, but their numbers have basically been artificially inflated without the knowledge of the people running it.
I’m pretty sure we had more PV’s than EDSBS during the last three months of 2011 and
I can't possibly imagine whyChris Grovich - February 17, 2012
I'm sure it was the start of basketball season
and the excitement generated by having a new hoops coach.
SubLime - February 17, 2012
Or Junny's recruiting coverage
and the ensuing meltdowns that some people have over it
Kyle_Martin - February 17, 2012
How does that even happen?
I’m no technocrat and if you can’t share that’s understandable, but I’m curious as hell how A. any site artifically enhances their pages views (bots of some sort?) B. It happens without management knowing and C. Why a 3rd party would want to arificially inflate someone elses numbers.
LegalLion - February 17, 2012
Short answers!
A) Yes.
B) For a while!
C) Someone was bored.
Chris Grovich - February 17, 2012
People are stupid
one of my company’s competitors combined their visits from two different sources and reported it as their total site visits.
We have other competitors that make a very large network of independent contractors (Realtors®) go through their public site to access their intranet.
letsgopsu - February 17, 2012
more stupid things
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 17, 2012
But do you think
we’ll get enough support from the coaches’ poll to get us in the MNC game, or will there be a rematch of the SEC blogs?
jman07 - February 17, 2012
Can't we just have a Blog Playoff already?
AriesGD - February 17, 2012
BSD Scores!
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 17, 2012
They're just so obviously the two best blogs
and the rest of the blogosphere is just jealous.
dbl5030 - February 17, 2012
5647 spelling/gramatical errors by myself
psu in the w-b - February 19, 2012 via iPhone app
I think you are underestimating yourself.
Paige2PSU - February 20, 2012
