BOB
and, FIRST!
letsgopsu - February 5, 2012
hi!
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
hel-lo
letsgopsu - February 5, 2012
just saw your new avi on twitter
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
Just for tonight
letsgopsu - February 5, 2012
ok good, it kinda creeps me out that pic
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
Thank you
I thought I was the only one who gets creeped out by that pic!
wonderlin - February 5, 2012
I hope Bill O brien wins the Super Bowl.
just him.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
So mad.
One of the props on BetUS was “how long will Kelly Clarkson hold the last note of the anthem?”, with an over/under of five seconds. Like she has the lung capacity to go over five seconds. I can’t believe I didn’t bet that.
Chris Grovich - February 5, 2012
I missed her
heard she was decent.
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
she was more than decent
letsgopsu - February 5, 2012
yay! I like her so that's good to hear.
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
has anyone posted official time
i timed it on phone and had 1:34.4
psupride - February 5, 2012
I really, really, really don't care about this game
2.5 hours until Downton Abbey
but, go BOB
letsgopsu - February 5, 2012
I am so tired, I don't think I'll be able to stay up for Downton tonight :(
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
I hate both of these teams so much.
I can’t stomach the thought of either one winning. It makes me want to puke. Literally. I get nauseous.
psuwxman - February 5, 2012
I just hope it ends on some controversial call
so one team feels cheated
psupride - February 5, 2012
Hope this is better than the BCS rematch
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Brady Fail
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
I want to see BO'B rip into Brady for that
psupride - February 5, 2012
Well, I don't see how BOB is supposed to get much done when the Pats D looks like ass.
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
0 BO'B plugs so far :(
ICEICETHATGUY13 - February 5, 2012
Pats look awful soft
SlingStone - February 5, 2012
TWSS.
84 disguised as CHPHT.
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
Thank God we didn't hire NE's D coordinator.
Succss With Honor Always - February 5, 2012
You didn't want to keep a head coaching vacancy?
Because there is no Pats D coordinator. Or is that what you meant?
PSUinBOSSton - February 5, 2012
I suggest they hire Scrap. Consider it a coaching trade.
I wasn’t sure if they had one or not, but they apparently need one.
Succss With Honor Always - February 5, 2012
really
a safety right off the bat, he better go into tom brady beast mode, Obrian with a ring stands a chance against urban meyer
ktd5048 - February 5, 2012
Don't worry about Urban
He’ll only stick around for a couple years, and then make up some sob story about why he needs to leave.
tbs5005 - February 5, 2012
was that a zombieland reference in that last commercial?
end of the world. ya.tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Just GM and Hostess longstanding corporate synergy.
SlingStone - February 5, 2012
So far a toss and a successful screen pass
Two things I’d like to see
ICEICETHATGUY13 - February 5, 2012
Moo-Moo = Welker?
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
Belton imo
ICEICETHATGUY13 - February 5, 2012
Better comparison.
Thanks, IceIce.
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
Darn servers.
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
Reverse!!
dmetz - February 5, 2012
Watching this
while drinking heavily is going to be the highlight of my sunday =S
Modanya - February 5, 2012
What are you drinkin?
So far Shiner Bock for me.
SlingStone - February 5, 2012
Sam Adams Winter Lager
dmetz - February 5, 2012
yanglang
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Yuengling I brought some home to KS for this event.
Modanya - February 5, 2012
Love you, Becks
so hot still.
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
Doesn’t seem like the right demographic, though.
SlingStone - February 5, 2012
Hey
There are ladies watching, too! If we have to sit through the Go Daddy commercials, the guys can handle one with Becks in his skivies!
wonderlin - February 5, 2012
exactly.
Besides, most of the women who watch (besides those mostly on boards like this) probably watch solely for commercials anyway.
And we still need a ton of them to make up for the myriad go daddy ones I’ve seen over the years.
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
Mmmm Becks
Modanya - February 5, 2012
Here we go Steelers, here we go.
iamkatemcg - February 5, 2012
Too bad for Travis Beckham.
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
Anything good happen yet?
watching the game on and off as I make food.
skarocksoi - February 5, 2012
Brady derping.
Intentional grounding in the end zone = safety for the Giants. Two passes knocked down by JPP. Etc.
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
Pats D getting trucked.
Need to get a turnover.
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
Giants Punter for Superbowl MVP
posas14 - February 5, 2012
Fortunate that Belichek is
getting the air time, not BOB.
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
I hate the Pats. Never really had a problem with the Giants.
But, tonight I will root for BO’B to get his ring. Side note: Giants FB Henry Hynoskie (Southern Columbia HS) is doing a fine job representing PA District 4.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Agreed.
My choices are (1) Pats win with great offense — BOB gets a flashy ring. (2) Pats barely win — BOB gets a flashy ring. (3) Pats lose because their defense sucks.
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
Adriana Lima
probably shouldn’t talk.
SlingStone - February 5, 2012
Someone was talking?
skarocksoi - February 5, 2012
LOL.
Was thinking the same thing.

like a wardrobe malfunction?
i have my fingers crossed.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
she "guaranteed" there wouldn't be a wardrobe malfunction, fwiw
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012

that there WILL or WON’T be a malfunction?

i want a malfunction.

BOB sighting!
Talking with Brady.
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
green'd ya
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
madonna is still a looker
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
She has
good
genessurgeons.PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012
you ain't shittin
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
she works her ass off for that body
letsgopsu - February 5, 2012
Probably.
But that’s her job as an entertainer — to look good. There are lots of singers with better voices who are sized 14, not 4.
PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012
NO Fun: Boo Hoo
ComfortHePuHuTh - February 5, 2012
HAH, yeah she does
LAPSU - February 5, 2012
I'd hit that
with a Mack truck.
MainLion - February 5, 2012
Naaaahhh
You’d ruin a perfectly good truck.
LAPSU - February 5, 2012
What just happened
Why did this just start sucking? It was off to such a good start.
tbs5005 - February 5, 2012
Lip sync
The best part of the half time show is when she tripped.
denise60134 - February 5, 2012
I like the marching band touch
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Are the other singers in this show famous?
icavalera - February 5, 2012
LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, MIA, Cee Lo
the attempt to counteract Madonna’s age with some younger, “hipper” acts. Probably.
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
These are names I've heard before,
but I couldn’t name one song any of them have done, or pick them out of a lineup.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Cee Lo
Did the F-you song. LMFAO did Party Rock and Sexy and I Know It
tbs5005 - February 5, 2012
MIA did the song for Slumdog Millionaire
and Nicki Minaj has guested on practically everyone’s music this past year, Drake, Kanye, etc
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
This would be why I have no idea of what songs they're famous for.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Still not ringing a bell. Probably because I don't listen to terrestrial radio.
/logs off and pops in the new Mastodon CD
icavalera - February 5, 2012
At first, I thought you were laughing at me for not knowing Nicki Minaj, MIA, and Cee Lo.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
LOL
now I am. ;)
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
At first, I thought you were laughing at me for not knowing Nicki Minaj, MIA, and Cee Lo.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Damn servers!
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Big black guy is Cee Lo Green.
Asian singer is LMFAO i guess. could be wrong.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Since when is a guy who's 5' tall considered big?
icavalera - February 5, 2012
thats 5' wide though
skarocksoi - February 5, 2012
When you're 3'2" --
5’ IS tall.
PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012
big the other way.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
They aren't asian
at least, I dont think they are…
skarocksoi - February 5, 2012
LMFAO
Berry Gordy’s son and nephew, I believe
nps - February 5, 2012
Wow really?
Adam Collyer - February 5, 2012
I have no clue.
the one chick looked asian. idk if that was LMFAO or not
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
LMFAO is two dudes
Adam Collyer - February 5, 2012
ahhh. i see
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012

He was Great in Gran Torino.
PSU_Ovaltine68 - February 5, 2012 via mobile
Yeah, definitely

PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012
So.
How much of this drive is BOB’s doing, and how much can he replicate for us?
PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012
ALL OF IT AND EVERYTHING.
Chris Grovich - February 5, 2012
Love the enthusiasm, Chris!

tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Great drive to start the half!
posas14 - February 5, 2012
has anyone spotted BOB?
or any shout out to us? I haven’t seen any.
Cari Greene - February 5, 2012
Saw his back right after the scoring drive
at the end of the first half. His back was to the camera — he was talking with Brady.
No props from Costas or Collingsworth. They are giving love to Belichek.

What’s your speed in the 40? How much can you bench press?
PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012
I run a sub 5.0
I haven’t maxed on bench in a while, though. Shoulder issues.
Adam Collyer - February 5, 2012
Hmmm, better sign you up for
soccer instead of football.
PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012
If you only knew how terrible a soccer player I was.
I can definitely swing a baseball bat though.
Adam Collyer - February 5, 2012
OK, baseball it is.
What position do you want?
PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012

SlingStone - February 5, 2012
I was actually thinking of this:
If you listen to the Stern show, you’re familiar with this…
icavalera - February 5, 2012
I must have thought at seven different points tonight.
Huh, Eric the Midget actually has good taste in women!
Chris Grovich - February 5, 2012
Agreed!
And during the national anthem, I kept thinking of “Who’s High Pitch? This is Kelly Clarkson.”
icavalera - February 5, 2012
I miss Stern
letsgopsu - February 5, 2012
WOODHEAD!!!
posas14 - February 5, 2012
giants are getting pummeled with injuries.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Does this mean the end around will still be a staple of our offense?
icavalera - February 5, 2012
I logged in to point this out.
THE END AROUND WILL NEVER DIE!
psume06 - February 5, 2012
A successful end around means BOB LOVE
ICEICETHATGUY13 - February 5, 2012
I'm sensing an 18-17 final score.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Shit, yes.
Unbelievable. Damnit.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
He may not have had possession before the second foot came off the ground?
psume06 - February 5, 2012
Looks like a catch to me.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Yeah.
Only way the temporary good guys win this is if the Giants score so fast Brady gets the ball back.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
What a catch?
Better than Tyree’s the last time?
PaJoe - February 5, 2012
Only problem is,
he’s a Michigan Man!
PaJoe - February 5, 2012
no way.
that one was incredible and it was 3rd or 4th down with under 2 minutes left i believe.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
It was 3rd down, I believe.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Holy shit.
this game is gonna have a great ending.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Not for us, methinks.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
tom brady
with a minute left, i like those odds
ktd5048 - February 5, 2012
Won't be anywhere near a minute left when this is done, what are you talking about?
psume06 - February 5, 2012
with a decent return.
and they hold them here. i like the Pats odds a lot.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Again, what are you two talking about?
psume06 - February 5, 2012
so what ur saying it
58 seconds isn’t close to a minute?
ktd5048 - February 5, 2012
the game
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
You guys got lucky Bradshaw is an idiot.
There should only be 20 seconds left. That was fucking hilarious.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
lol.
yes it was.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
I apologize for doubting your prescience.
psume06 - February 5, 2012

psume06 - February 5, 2012
the nfl is rigged
i read the script and knew that play was going to happen haha
ktd5048 - February 5, 2012
I see.
So it’s like reality tv? Or the WWF?
psume06 - February 5, 2012
posted
as i look up they rock the first down
ktd5048 - February 5, 2012
they let him in!
thats cowardice.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
It's like the Broncos - Packers Super Bowl.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Why?
Assuming an NFL kicker can make a 20 yd FG is as pretty good assumption.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
not sure. would rather 30 seconds left to get a FG
or a minute or less to get a TD?
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
TD.
Assuming your guys can catch a little.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
Nice catch, Branch.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
got the dropsies!
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
they drop the ball
more then penn state misses open threes!!!!!….so frustrating
ktd5048 - February 5, 2012
Well, the Pats receivers are starting to look like ours with the drops.
Might as well get BO’B used to that. LOL
icavalera - February 5, 2012
damn, brady
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
They ran 2 seconds off the clock after the spike.
Come on, you’re supposed to cheat FOR the Michigan man.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
they did.
Manningham was a hero on the Giants last drive.
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Amazing how the clock keeps running when the Patriots try to stop it.
They must know BOB is going to Penn State
nickrapak - February 5, 2012
Wow... that was really close to being completed.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Well that's a whole lotta wasted time with our head coach dicking around in Boston.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
Yes.
Meager Reader - February 5, 2012
Well, that's not on the play-calling.
The execution was horrible for the Pats’ last possession.
PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012
Doesn't matter.
Only value we could have derived from this game was our coach having a fat rock on his hand. What a wasted month.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
Eh. Disagree. It's fine.
Adam Collyer - February 5, 2012
How?
What did we gain from him not recruiting? Obviously, gains from him recruiting are speculative, but really all we could have pulled from this was a coach with “Super Bowl Champion” on his resume. Now? He coached an also-ran offense that one time.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
I don't think it matters too much.
Seriously. The guy coaches Tom Brady. It’d be helpful if they won a SB, but it’s fine.
Adam Collyer - February 5, 2012
Said the same to Mrs. ML tonight.
Nick Saban was a washout in the NFL. Great college coach.
BOB is an NFL assistant. Doesn’t mean jack in college, especially when you’re staring down the barrel of Urbz.
I hope for the best, but I have low expectations.
MainLion - February 5, 2012
You should have your typical expectations.
Penn State coaches should win games and graduate players. That’s the requirement. That’s my baseline.
I like O’Brien, but he has to make it happen.
Adam Collyer - February 5, 2012
Deep breaths guys.
The man hasn’t really been here yet. Give him time. Frankly, for him to keep and get the recruits that he got is a win in my book with all the crap that has been going on.
PSU_Brian - February 5, 2012 via mobile
I agree. I think it says something about BOB and his staff
for them to be able to cobble together the class that they did. They were able to get a few kids to de-commit from other schools and, while those schools weren’t Alabama or anything, they still got them to change their minds.
A Super Bowl ring would have been cool and awesome, but I’m not going to jump to conclusions or say that this class was a waste or that BOB was a bad hire simply because he didn’t win one. Let’s give the man some space to make his own name out of the shadows of Belichick and Brady.
LAPSU - February 6, 2012
I'm actually very comfortable with him at this point.
Not particularly stressed. But my expectations are consistent with the ones I had of the last staff. Win games, graduate players, conduct yourselves appropriately.
Adam Collyer - February 6, 2012
sadly this is totally true
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
Mario Manningham:
Killer of everything Penn State.
ReddWhitenBlue - February 5, 2012
yes. lol
tlrpsu - February 5, 2012
I'm out, folks.
Busy week at work coming up.
Take care!
PSU_Lions_84 - February 5, 2012
BOB
should not even be at this game. I thought he was PENN STATE’S HEAD COACH!
Meager Reader - February 5, 2012
Not that it matters,
but I don’t think BO’B was mentioned once during the broadcast.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Why the hell did they pull Ochocinco on the last play?
Even more, why did the put in Gronkowski for him?
If that was BO’B’s call….ugh.
mvrck - February 5, 2012
Because he's 6'7"?
psume06 - February 5, 2012
Not to mention that he did almost catch the ball when it was batted down.
Ben16 - February 5, 2012
Except Gronkowksi barely got to the end zone before the ball.
He was super slow all night and wasn’t even in for the last drive.
mvrck - February 5, 2012
He was right where he was supposed to be on that pass.
Ben16 - February 5, 2012
I see Jimmy Kennedy wasn't activated for the game.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
I hate Bernard Pollard.
Killed the 2008, 2009, and 2011 Pats seasons. While playing for 3 different teams to.
PSUinBOSSton - February 5, 2012
Brady seems to have lost some (not all) of his magic.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Nope, just his video tape
Oops. Did I just mention the elephant in the room?
kijana's acl - February 5, 2012
How's it the tape?
He had the best season ever for a QB the year after spygate. They don’t win anymore because their D is terrible. At one point in the game he completed 16 straight passes. He then had 4 straight drops at the end of the game.
Esteban d' Amur - February 6, 2012
I thought it was the defence
that was benefiting from the spygate business.
SlingStone - February 6, 2012
I don't think anyone beyond Goodell knows
and that’s a damn shame. Probably makes people more suspicious of the Pats wins and legacy.

I think having an engaged Randy Moss had a lot to do with Brady's 2007 season
People forget how good that guy was when he gave a shit. Much better than TO; and probably just a smidge behind Rice at his heights. Add Welker, a cohesive and healthy offensive line and a game plan that was basically “EFF EVERYONE who thinks we cheated”, and I’m not surprised that a top tier quarterback would have a great year.
That said, they cheated and they haven’t won anything since they were caught cheating. I think those two facts are relevant.
kijana's acl - February 6, 2012
They've been to two..
Super Bowls since and lost on 4th quarter drives in each. In each they didn’t get the breaks. They are a dropped Int by Samuel, the luckiest catch in Super Bowl history, and a drop by Wes Welker away from two more titles.
They also have lost an AFC championship game since Spy Gate as well.
I think the cheating bears no relevance. I think in the first 3 Super Bowls they got the breaks. In the last two, they didn’t.
Esteban d' Amur - February 6, 2012
I think also
so many teams have or will cheat. The others just didn’t get caught.
Maybe the cynic in me, but still.
Cari Greene - February 6, 2012
It's impossible to prove that cheating didn't play a factor
It’s demonstrable that the Pats have are zero for two close Super Bowls since they were caught and won three close Super Bowls before they were caught. I think cheating could have played a role in games that were decided by, on average, 3 points. Belichick obviously thought it was worth something or else why do it?
kijana's acl - February 6, 2012
It's one of two things
Either it’s the tape, or he married Giselle and got soft. The Pats haven’t won since they got married. Coincidence………?
LAPSU - February 5, 2012
Shoulda called a dive on that last play.
MainLion - February 5, 2012
I'm still pissed about BOB
Meager Reader - February 5, 2012
without a ring
urban controls PA
ktd5048 - February 5, 2012
I'm not that negative
I think BOB has the goods to do great things and I’m looking foreward to moving on and seeing what he can do.
Modanya - February 5, 2012
no, ktd is absolutely right.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
Urban will take what he wants with BOB lacking a ring.
psume06 - February 5, 2012
Wow, do you really believe that?
That everything hinged on BOB getting a ring? You’re way too negative about this, IMO. I think kids will be impressed enough by his NFL experience. The ring would have been icing on the cake, but it wasn’t the be-all, end-all.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
this
ReddWhitenBlue - February 5, 2012
While BOB winning a ring would have been nice
I would hope that the kind of kids committing to PSU go here for more reasons than our head coach slamming a gaudy ring on the table in front of them.
With that being said, I was pulling hard for the Pats and lost $50 in the process. I’ll be sending the bill to New England.
LAPSU - February 5, 2012
I think all a ring would have done
was present a nice little conversation piece when he visits a recruit’s home, but other than that not much else.
CyphaPSU - February 6, 2012
great
comment
ktd5048 - February 6, 2012
Bullshit
Urban controls PA either way Penn State fans would just have an excuse if he did have a ring and wasnt getting recruits. This super bowl honestly means nothing to us other than Penn State getting it’s head coach. Lets see what he can do.
ReddWhitenBlue - February 5, 2012
^Yes. Exactly.
icavalera - February 5, 2012
Agree to your second sentence
not to your first. Let’s wait and give both staffs an entire recruiting season (and playing season) before we anoint Urban kind of Pennsylvania.
Honestly, if we didn’t have the scandal and Urban was still at Penn State, I’m not confident he would have gotten those recruits from us. So that wouldn’t make him king. But we did, and he did. And IMO we can’t be sure a whole lot of fight was put up for those kids.
Cari Greene - February 6, 2012
I meant “before we anoint Urban king of Pennsylvania”.
Sorry bout that.
Cari Greene - February 7, 2012
Look at it this way:
BOB Coached Brady
Meyer Coached Tebow
ljdevine - February 6, 2012
BWHAHAHA
Love this
Modanya - February 7, 2012
One positive from the game
I know I’ll get to continue seeing “The Reverse” at the Beav. With MM as Tom Brady and Devon Smith as Wes Welker.
Smee - February 5, 2012
Two positives
Pats still haven’t won a Super Bowl without taping. The taint is still firmly affixed!
And, yes, I was pulling for the Pats because Penn State’s coach is, no was, on their staff, but it didn’t hurt even a little bit watching them lose.
kijana's acl - February 5, 2012
every recruit
watched this game, and would have been nice to have bill win, having that ring helped charlie weis so much, recruits that graduated from the program even admitted that they took that into acocunt
ktd5048 - February 5, 2012
And judging by the success of those recruits at ND
I won’t be too upset about not getting that type of player to PSU.
dbl5030 - February 6, 2012
When I read the part about the ring helping Weis...
I was assuming this was sarcastic?
CyphaPSU - February 6, 2012
it might have had an impact on his recruiting
but if you can’t coach, it doesn’t matter if you have a ring and can recruit.
Cari Greene - February 6, 2012
most of those recruits
ended up dominating on the college scene, he only recruited offensive players, and then filled his defense in based on stars with no system in place? the talent ND had was rediculous he just couldn’t find a way to use it as a team….im not saying we need those type of kids, what i mentioned was recruits look at the ring and it helps sway decisions of kids that the coach wants on his team. not every talent in high school has the same personality so you could actually get kids that behave and are athletically dominate such as a certain 2013 TE that may be featured in a column below
