Eric's awesome-as-usual preview of this clash can be found here
I almost decided to completely eschew a live game thread of what's likely to be an imminent beat down at the hands of Sparty tonight, but the thought of letting down the few of you live hoops thread die-hards nixed that idea. Tipoff is at 6:30 PM ET and can viewed on BTN or listened to on these radio affiliates, Sirius Ch 92, or XM Ch 191.
And as always: No porn, no racist/sexist/homophobic/trollish like comments, and no links to illegal video feeds of the game. Oh, and hope against hope that there's enough ATTITUDE in the air to potentially spark an upset...

Your starting five:
Frazier, Colella, Woodyard, Oliver, and Graham.
Tim Aydin - February 8, 2012
Lots of chucking and ducking and ring around the perimeter early on
Feels like Ed DeChellis redux.
Tim Aydin - February 8, 2012
Lets keep it within 25 boys
Frazer had an easy bucket that he just missed. Good old PSU on the road.
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
This is embarrassing
It may be the first shutout ever!
mundyscorner99 - February 8, 2012
Yeah...we scored!!!
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
can't see the game on the tele
is it that bad?
smh244 - February 8, 2012
Yes.
I say we forfeit the remaining home games.
Eric Gibson - February 8, 2012
so, kiss of death for a year and then we start playing again?
smh244 - February 8, 2012
Defense played exceptional
Offense non existent.
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
The fact that we're not down by 20 shows how great we are playing on one end of the floor.
Eric Gibson - February 8, 2012
If not for a few bad turnovers that led to fast break points
This game would even be closer.
mundyscorner99 - February 8, 2012
If not for the fact
That our offense sucks, we would be winning.
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
Said every losing team ever
Haha, love it.
LAPSU - February 8, 2012
Iowa disagrees.
misdreavus79 - February 8, 2012
If Michigan State is the 2nd best team in the Big Ten
It is going to an ugly NCAA tournament for this conference.
mundyscorner99 - February 8, 2012
So, what are the odds PSU hits 15 points before halftime?
Tim Aydin - February 8, 2012
Well
If we stop trying to jack up every 3 we possible can, might have a chance for double digits. But right now…10% chance.
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
We should ask for a special exemption to only play home games the rest of the season
I think the NCAA would grant it after watching this first half.
mundyscorner99 - February 8, 2012
Good to see Spartan fans show up for a PSU game
Mr. Rosewater - February 8, 2012
Can shoot layups either
Mr. Rosewater - February 8, 2012
Should have dunked the damn ball
Hate when a big guy down low tries to lay it in, instead of the dunk.
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
Agreed.
Definitely why Chambers was about to kill someone as he walked off the floor.
Eric Gibson - February 8, 2012
With you on this x1000
It’s like that pissing standing up thing the other day: if you’re able to, you better damn well do it.
LAPSU - February 8, 2012
First half comparison
Comparing the Iowa to MSU first halves.
Stat – IA|MSU
PPP – 0.51 | 0.54
eFG% – 30.0% | 24.0%
OReb% – 26.1% | 20.0%
TO% – 29.7% | 25.7%
FTR – 10.0 | 40.0
Unreal.
Eric Gibson - February 8, 2012
Ignorant person here
What is FTR?
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
Free Throw Rate.
FTA/FGA. Measures how often you get to the foul line.
Eric Gibson - February 8, 2012
Figured it was something that was related to FT
Appreciate it.
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
This is hard to watch
But watch I must.

Announcers saying it's not over?
Ok.
Mr. Rosewater - February 8, 2012
11-0 run for the Nittany Lions.
OBrienSchofieldismyHero - February 8, 2012
Making a little run
What is this? They are making baskets and putting up points?
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
21 percent
FG percent to end the half….ugh i dont mind that chambers opened up a scholarship to help recruit a player for his system, i do hope he saves it for a 2013 guy though and not a last minute 2012 guy
ktd5048 - February 8, 2012
Whoever it is
Hope they are a shooter.
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
At least they're fighting their way back
Mr. Rosewater - February 8, 2012
One thing this team doesn't do
Is sit back and take it no matter what the score is. just wish they can start a game like this half and the second half of the Iowa game.
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
our football team would have worked on their fundamentals while getting destroyed by Bama
Ooofa, did I just say that???
Mr. Rosewater - February 8, 2012
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??!!!!
Mr. Rosewater - February 8, 2012
Can we somehow get Green to foul out?
Attack him and make him get a foul or two, then we might have a chance.
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
Whoa
Don’t call it a comeback
LAPSU - February 8, 2012
Okay
I won’t
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
Haha
Well, that was fun while it lasted.
LAPSU - February 8, 2012
Indeed it was
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
When the Spartans turn it on, they turn it on
Mr. Rosewater - February 8, 2012
Chambers...
…is gonna make them puke when they get back.
TheSwish - February 8, 2012 via mobile
Bad Cook?
AriesGD - February 8, 2012
Sigh

TheSwish - February 8, 2012 via mobile
How did we go from down-by-6 to down-by-20 in six minutes?
Mr. Rosewater - February 8, 2012
Draymond Green.
Eric Gibson - February 8, 2012
I don't understand this team.
I love them, but I don’t get ’em at all.
dwf5095 - February 8, 2012 via mobile
This team reminds me of the '09-'10 squad
It was Talor Battle and the seven dwarves.
With the loss of Cornley, Pringle and Morressy to graduation, the remainaing guys, Brooks, Jones and Jackson couldn’t make up the scoring, and Timmy was just a freshman. Everyone deferred to Battle to carry the scoring load, so they tanked that season. Nowadays they all defer to Frazier. Marshall and Oliver have shown flashes, but the bigs provide little inside threat/production. The question is will they show improvement next year. This team desperatey needs offense. Here’s hoping Newbil and Lewis contribute to help take the load off Frazier when Marshall gets cold. Graham and Sasa are going to have to step it up next year. That is all.
TonyLion - February 8, 2012
Well, at least we get some games at home now.
misdreavus79 - February 8, 2012
This team is going to wind up doing something silly.
Like going on a run through the Big 10 tourney, knocking off everyone they shouldn’t and finally losing to Indiana in the championship game, just to break our hearts one last time and miss a chance to improbably go to the postseason.
mvrck - February 9, 2012
That'd be awesome.
But I don’t think this team has more than 1 upset in them for the B1G tournament. And if they play either Indiana school, forget about it. Especially this year when IU is finally good.
